The Word this Week (Proverbs/Colossians)

Beloved in Christ, 

God's wisdom teaches us to consider how view life in Christ.  This includes our work.  

Do we work for a living, do we live for work, or is there a better way to understand the gift of work for our lives?  

Let's learn from God's word together on the first day of this week. 

Proverbs 10

⁴ Lazy hands make a man poor, but diligent hands bring wealth. ⁵ He who gathers crops in summer is a wise son, but he who sleeps during harvest is a disgraceful son.

Proverbs 12:

¹⁰ A righteous man cares for the needs of his animal, but the kindest acts of the wicked are cruel. ¹¹ He who works his land will have abundant food, but he who chases fantasies lacks judgment.

Proverbs 15:

¹⁹ The way of the sluggard is blocked with thorns, but the path of the upright is a highway.

Proverbs 22:

²⁹ Do you see a man skilled in his work? He will serve before kings; he will not serve before obscure men.

Proverbs 27:

¹⁸ He who tends a fig tree will eat its fruit, and he who looks after his master will be honored.

Colossians 3:

²³ Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, ²⁴ since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.
