The Word this Week(2 Timothy 3:14-17;Proverbs 3:5-12)

Beloved, we are going to study the book of Proverbs for the second half of the Summer.  

We will begin with how to study and listen to the wisdom of God's word.   Gaining wisdom in the kingdom's economy is using wisdom to do the most good and glorify God.  

2 Timothy 3:14-17

¹⁴ But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, ¹⁵ and how from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. ¹⁶ All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, ¹⁷ so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. 

Proverbs 3:5-17

⁵     Trust in the Lord with all your heart

and lean not on your own understanding;

⁶     in all your ways acknowledge him,

and he will make your paths straight.

⁷     Do not be wise in your own eyes;

fear the Lord and shun evil.

⁸     This will bring health to your body

and nourishment to your bones.

⁹     Honor the Lord with your wealth,

with the firstfruits of all your crops;

¹⁰   then your barns will be filled to overflowing,

and your vats will brim over with new wine.

¹¹   My son, do not despise the Lord’s discipline

and do not resent his rebuke,

¹²   because the Lord disciplines those he loves,

as a father the son he delights in.
