Worship

I was glad when they said to me, ‘Let us go to the house of the Lord.’” – Psalm 122:1

Worship is at the heart of what we do at Modesto CRC. Each Sunday, families from all over gather around the Risen Christ to offer prayers and praises to God and to hear Him speak to us through His Word. We are then sent out as His ambassadors, bringing light into a dark world through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Our worship is ‘unified’ in the sense that we incorporate different styles of musical and non-musical expressions into our worship. Praise teams lead modern songs of praise. Our majestic pipe organ accompanies the singing of classic hymns. Ancient creeds or prayers may be spoken together, and dramatic presentations of Scripture may be offered. Each movement of worship is woven together to create an hour of flowing dialogue with God – He speaks to us, and we respond.

Just as there is variety in our worship expressions, you will find variety in how people dress. Some men will wear sport coats and ties, others collared shirts and khakis, and others yet, jeans or shorts. Some women wear skirts and dresses, others wear slacks. Your inward attention toward God is what matters the most, so as long as it doesn’t distract from the worship of others, wear what makes you comfortable.

We worship Sundays at 9:30am. A time of fellowship follows the service with coffee, cookies, and punch.
