G.E.M.S--Girls Everywhere Meeting the Savior
A club for girls in 3rd-8th grades, offering Bible study, singing, crafts, socials, camp, merit badges, and service projects.
Meetings are Wednesday evenings from 7:00pm-8:30pm in the GEMS room upstairs.
Club Verse: Micah 6:8--"He has shown you, O Man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God."
The point of GEMS is to help young girls learn that t hey are loved, wanted, treasured, and beautiful daughters of the King. The counselors and counselors-in-training help the girls understand this by working on badges, having service nights, and spending quality time with them.
2014 year's theme: Bring the Message
Theme Song: "I Will Follow" by Chris Tomlin
Each year, a Scripture passage is selected and a theme is developed around that Scripture to make the passage come alive for the girls. Bible studies, service projects, crafts, games, and other fun activities are created to teach the truth of God’s Word that is found in the theme.
Jesus is the Message. He is the Good News! And God sent Him to the world to deliver the message that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16). Jesus is love, light, and life to a dark and dying world.
And when we’ve been changed by His message–when we join God’s family–we need to share the good news of Jesus with others. Isaiah did. When He saw Jesus’ glory, he was eager to accept his commission.
Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!” (Isaiah 6:8).
As the Father sent the Son, so He sends you and me. Let us be quick to respond and say in agreement with Isaiah, “Here am I. Send me!”
